With such a big number of Spanish speakers looking to live in our country I don't think we can afford to not focus more efforts on English language learners. I suppose that is assuming English remains the dominant language in the US moving forward. I hope so, I can barely manage to articulate myself in English let alone trying to learn a new language. I think communication is one of the most important skills to hone in schools. That goes beyond any language barrier as well, being able to communicate with others effectively is a skill you need to have. It is and area I find myself lacking in, but that is more due to social anxiety then anything else.
